A Day At Timberline Ski Area

Deborah decided she was going to ski today so last night we made preparations and this morning joined commuter traffic for a short while. I missed our turn and google navigation rerouted us along country roads we had not been on before. Turned out to be a pleasant and scenic drive so the longer detour did not bother us much.

I brought a pair of skis that had been given me with the thought that I would learn how. However, when we arrived on the mountain, the sky was blue and the lighting was beautiful so I decided to take photos instead. I will wait for a day I am not photographically inspired to take ski lessons.

Deborah bought me a Fujinon XF 8-16mm f/2.8 R LM WR Lens which is another reason I wasn't too keen on skiing - I wanted to play with my new lens. This lens has impressed me and I can tell that it will probably replace my Fujinon XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR as the default lens on my camera.

It was nice for me, but may have been concerning to the ski area because of how few people there were. The slopes were practically empty and Deborah said she didn't have to wait in line at all for the the lifts. Guess it pays to go during the week avoiding the weekend crowd.

Deborah did have to make a call for work so we met near the top, sat on a rock and enjoyed the view from her office. Afterwards she made a few more runs and I continued up the mountain to the top lift and then made my way back to the lodge.

After lunch and a beer at the Lodge's Ram's Head Bar we drove home... Wishing we were still on the mountain.
